Easter Pause Day 2022

St. Andrew’s School Easter Pause Day 2022

For two days, on the Wednesday and Thursday during holy week, the pupils and staff of St. Andrew’s School put aside their maths and English books, their phonics and reading comprehension, and gave a whole day to exploring, reflecting on and creating on the theme of the Easter Story.

We had a real celebration of Easter. On Wednesday we held our Easter Pause Day which began with 2 very special services at our school church, St. Andrew's. The children listened to the Easter story through words, pictures and drama and sang a variety of Easter and Spring songs. Revs Mike, Charlene and Moni talked to the children on the theme of sadness and happiness and led us in Easter prayers. The rest of pause day was spent at school where the children took part in a range of activities from eating hot cross buns, drama, art and writing prayers.

A new venture this year was the Easter Trail which we held at school on Thursday. There were seven stations in different rooms for each class to walk to, hear the part of the story from Palm Sunday through to Easter day and take part in a reflective or prayer activity. The activities ranged from acting out parts of the story, feet washing, eating bread and grapes and visiting the empty tomb.  There were so many positive comments from children and staff that we hope to hold the trail again next year
