Online Safety

E-safety is a very important part of the Computing curriculum which we make sure we promote to both children and parents at St Andrew’s. Each year we hold an E-safety day which is also nationally recognised. In class we teach children about the importance of staying safe online. Over the last few years technology has developed at a rapid pace and children have access to many forms of this at home through ipads, websites and mobile phones. We strive to equip all of our children with an understanding of what to do if something arises that makes them feel uncomfortable and unsafe whether at school or at home.

If you would like more information on e-safety please go to www.internetmatters.org

The DFE website Kids online safety  supports families and encourages regular conversations about what they’re seeing online, asking simple questions, like “who shared this” and “why?”. Based on parents’ main concerns and needs, it provides:

  • tips for parents’ conversations with their children
  • actions to support each stage of their child’s life
  • parental controls information

There are also signposts to trusted resources from charities and third parties, where parents can access other forms of support (like speaking to an expert).
