Social, moral, social and cultural (SMSC) and Fundamental British Values (FBV)
The schools vision, values and curriculum intent ensures that pupils SMSC and FBV development is at the heart of what we do. Pupils have daily opportunities to develop and foster these skills through life here at St Andrew’s.
We follow the Character Education programme. The intent of this being that our pupils can flourish as young people, achieve their potential and live meaningfully and harmoniously in communities with others. We focus on developing specific virtues* which go to make up our character. *(a virtue is the ability to act in a particular way in a specific situation to bring about a good outcome).
In addition SMSC is a central theme to our Project learning. There are 19 key skills that are woven through the topics and sit at the centre of the Cornerstones pedagogy.
Curriculum and year group leaders will be responsible for tracking opportunities and impact of SMSC and FBV.
