Maths Makes Sense
Maths Makes Sense (MMS) is used for teaching Maths throughout our school.
Maths Makes Sense is a new way of teaching Primary maths developed by Richard Dunne. It makes maths enjoyable to teach and fun to learn. More importantly it makes it really understandable from the start. Richard's approach is based on the fact that Maths is a logical, symbolic language.
If you would like to see some videos explaining how it works, please follow the link below and scroll to the bottom of the page under Video Support.
Only once children understand symbolic maths can maths be successfully applied back to the real world to solve problems.
"Maths Makes Sense is much more than a set of good ideas. It goes far beyond the teaching of tips and tricks for passing tests. It is a powerful but simple learning system that enables children to grasp with complete clarity the underlying sense of mathematics. The gasps of realisation and the sounds of pennies dropping around the classroom, make Maths Makes Sense a very rewarding way of teaching.'Ian Laite, Maths Coordinator, Llansawel Primary School
