To help children (and parents!) adjust to starting school, St Andrew's
organises several initiatives during the Summer term before they start:
- there are two induction afternoons when the children visit and
experience some of the activities in the Reception class
- during the induction afternoons the parents are close at hand and
have an opportunity to get to know other new parents
- children receive "Getting Ready for School" packs of
activities to do at home
|
Reception children have special Friday afternoon play sessions in
the playground
Reception has its own courtyard for
playing with water and sand
|
Its a lovely day for playing in the sand!

A gradual start
In September, the start of term for reception class children is phased over
three weeks. All children begin mornings only and build up gradually
to full time.
